AFRICAN AMERICAN PRAYER TRADITIONS
The students will learn different prayer techniques using poetry, music and other prayers in an attempt to provide direction for an effective prayer life in the African American context.

Students will learn the history and geography of Africa and its people in the Bible,
and how that knowledge gives us a better understanding of who and whose we
are as Africans living in the Diaspora.

BIBLE BASICS [C]
Textbook: Bible Basics Packet
This course introduces students to reference materials necessary to study the Bible.
It explores the structure and history of the Bible and covers eight of the most
prominent covenants God made with His people.

BIBLE DISCOVERY HOUR
Discover what it means to be on this Christian journey according to the Bible, and
how to apply that knowledge to the challenges we face daily.

BIBLICAL AUTHORITY [C]
Textbook: Biblical Authority or Biblical Tyranny
Students examine the different perspectives from which the Bible is interpreted,
studied and/or understood.

BIBLICAL HEALTH [T]
“Everybody Talking ‘Bout Heaven But Don’t Nobody Wanna Die”
There is perhaps no more poignant and sacred time in life than the time just prior
to one being reunited with their creator. What, if anything does the Bible and the
life and ministry of Jesus Christ offer to us as a guide for dealing with this sacred time?
How do our traditional views and teachings about “faith” help us and hurt us as African
Americans when dealing with end of life? This Bible Study will explore these important
aspects of “End of Life” from a hospice oriented perspective utilizing much of the Amani
Care training curriculum.

BLACK WOMEN’S THEOLOGY [A]
Textbook: Introduction to Womanist Theology
Students will learn the goals of womanist theology by interrogating the social
construction of black womanhood in relation to the Black community and to assume
a libratory perspective so that African American women can live emboldened lives
within the African American community and within the larger society.

GOD’S WORD AND MY SALVATION [C]
Textbook: God’s Word and My Salvation Packet
This class requires students to explore some of the most puzzling subjects and frequently
asked questions in the Bible. The study includes topics on God, the Bible, the Holy Spirit,
the Church and the Christian life. It also provides answers to questions about women in
ministry, speaking in tongues, sin, repentance, faith, judgments, rewards, the abundant life,
Jesus Christ – the Son of God, and much more. Come and learn God’s plan of Salvation.

THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE TRINITY II
The word Trinity is not found in Scripture, but is used to express the doctrine of the unity of God as subsisting in three distinct Persons. Students will learn of the person and work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of God's people.

Have you ever wanted to learn to speak, understand and or write Swahili? Well here’s your
chance. Learn biblical passages, The Lord’s Prayer, standard greetings, and much more.

This course is designed to give students a brief look at the books of Law and History.

This course provides students with an overview of the books of poetry and prophecy.

THE BOOK OF REVELATION PART III [I]
Purpose “Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who
hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.” Rev 1:3 NIV

SPACE FOR GOD [C]
This course teaches students the importance of making space for God through the
practice of prayer, spiritual insight, meditation and journaling.
Prerequisites: Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian
UNASHAMEDLY BLACK UNAPOLOGETICALLY CHRISTIAN [C]
This course examines the history, doctrines and perspectives of both the denomination,
the United Church of Christ and Trinity United Church of Christ. Students will also explore
the relationship between the local church and the denomination. Every Trinitarian needs
to take this course.
